This event was held on Monday, 19th August, 2013 between 1pm and 4 pm at Sunderland Bangladeshi Community Centre, 30 Tatham Street, Sunderland, SR1 2QD. The lead Partner for organising this event was Sunderland BME Network.
Many people displayed information and a wide range of people came along to see what Sustainable Sunderland was all about, whilst having fun on the various activities. A series of pictures from the event are shown below to give an idea of the active community involvement that took place.
There was a wide range of activities for everyone to participate in. From face painting to a oucny castle
Below are sisters Tegan and Charlie-May who had their faces painted from designs that they chose.
As well as face painting there was a balloon artist and magician who provided hours of fun.
Sumo and super hero suits provided ample padding for enthusiatic clashes of super strength!
More gentle games were provided as well.
African style drumming provided a background sound to the event.
A fully supervised rodeo bronco ride proved a challengs for all those that braved it.
All the Sustainable Sunderland partners had exhibitions at the event. As well as other organisations who had a message about environmental sustainability to give.
Nissan Leaf Electric Car
In the car park outside the event there was a Nissan Leaf which has zero emissions. Gentoo Group provided the vehicle and here demonstrate how the charging unit works.
After a long hard day at the event Dean from SBMEN and Daniel from ICOS relax on the rodeo bronco – most of the time lying on the cushioned floor of the ride rather than on the bronco!
